Vishay IHDM inductor maintains inductance and saturation current stability under harsh conditions

This type of plug-in inductor adopts variable wire-wound coils and iron powder alloy core technology, which enables low direct current resistance (DCR), thereby reducing power consumption and improving efficiency. 


MALVERN, Pennsylvania, USA, and SHANGHAI, China - August 8, 2025 - Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE stock symbol: VSH) announced the launch of two new IHDM automotive-grade surface-mount flat coil inductors - IHDM-1107BBEV-2A and IHDM-1107BBEV-3A. These devices feature a 1107 package size and a soft saturation current of up to 422 A. Thanks to the ferrite alloy core technology employed, the IHDM-1107BBEV-2A and IHDM-1107BBEV-3A from Vishay's inductor product line exhibit excellent inductance and saturation current stability within the harsh operating temperature range of -40°C to +180°C. They also have low power consumption and excellent heat dissipation performance. 


The flat-wound windings of these two devices have a DC resistance (DCR) as low as 0.22 mW, which can minimize losses and improve the rated current performance, thereby enhancing efficiency. Compared with competing solutions based on ferrite, IHDM-1107BBEV-2A and IHDM-1107BBEV-3A have a 30% increase in rated current and saturation current at temperatures above +125 °C. The inductor has a soft saturation characteristic, so the inductance value decreases slowly with the increase in current and is not affected by temperature.
These devices that have passed AEC-Q200 certification have a withstand voltage of up to 350 V and are suitable for DC/DC converters, inverters, on-board chargers (OBC), domain control units (DCU), and filters used for suppressing noise in motors and switches in internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), and all-electric (EV) vehicles, as well as for power applications involving high current and high temperature. These inductors offer two magnetic core materials for selection, allowing for performance optimization based on the application. 


The pins of IHDM-1107BBEV-2A and IHDM-1107BBEV-3A have been stripped of the insulating layer and tin-plated, and are suitable for through-hole mounting. Vishay can customize different inductance values, DC resistance (DCR), rated current and rated voltage according to customer requirements. The mounting method can also be customized as per requirements, including bare copper pins, surface mount and fish-eye terminals. To reduce the risk of tin whisker growth, the inductor is hot-dip tin-plated. The device complies with RoHS and Vishay Green standards, and is halogen-free.

IHDM-1107BBEV-2A and IHDM-1107BBEV-3A are now available in sample form and have achieved mass production. The delivery cycle is 14 weeks.
